Apropos' historic park regeneration project

APROPOS’ HISTORIC PARK REGENERATION PROJECT

National company goes local to design bespoke bi-folding door systems for Stamford Park regeneration centrepiece

Apropos is playing its part in the regeneration of a historic local park.

The company is designing, manufacturing and installing four sets of folding sliding doors for a new pavilion to be located in Stamford Park. The park, which straddles the Ashton-under-Lyne/Stalybridge border, dates from 1873 and is registered grade II on the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens.

Stamford Park is undergoing a major transformation after Tameside Council successfully secured a multi-million pound government grant for its regeneration. The regeneration will involve the construction of new buildings – including the pavilion and a new aviary - landscape restoration, improved play facilities and enhanced planting.

The new pavilion building will be located at the heart of the park behind the current bowling pavilion. It will provide a central meeting point for visitors and will be an attractive welcoming space throughout the year. The pavilion will feature a café, toilets, park manager’s office, information point, and community rooms.

It is a particularly gratifying project for Apropos, involving as it does a park that many of the company’s staff know and love. Furthermore, the project will act as highly visual, local example of Apropos’ commercial work in the years to come.

Paul Schofield, Apropos’ Technical Sales Manager, said, “As a national designer and manufacturer of award-winning structures, Apropos feels extremely privileged to be involved in this exciting, local regeneration project, for a number of reasons.

“Firstly, the rejuvenation of the historic Stamford Park is of particular personal importance for many of our staff; who know the park so well, having enjoyed playing in it when they were children, and, who now use its facilities for the enjoyment of their own children.

“Secondly, at a time of continuing economic uncertainty, we are delighted that, as a local company, we have secured the contract on this high-profile, local project - thereby ensuring an investment directly back into Tameside’s manufacturing economy.

“We are now working hard to ensure that the completed bespoke door sets are of the highest possible standard.”
