APROPOS SHORTLISTED FOR INTERNATIONAL GLASS DESIGN AWARD

Glazing work on new build project recognised in prestigious Design et al awards

28th June 2011

Apropos has been shortlisted for a prestigious, international design and architecture award.

The company has been shortlisted in the ‘Glasshouse’ category of the International Design & Architecture Awards 2011, run each year by the highly influential design publication Design et al.

The short listing relates to a private new build project in Cheshire (above), in which Apropos design engineered, manufactured and installed almost 30 pieces of bespoke glass structure; including folding sliding doors, rooflights, floor-to-ceiling windows, and glazed inserts.

The use of glazing in this way maximised light into the property without the need for an additional and conventional ‘glazed’ room, such as a conservatory.

The work was undertaken in collaboration with Altrincham-based Calder Peel Architects, who project-managed the build.

Commenting on the short listing, Gary Shaw, Apropos’ regional manager, said, “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this prestigious international award. This particular project was particularly challenging for us, as it contained almost 30 separate pieces of bespoke glazing. However, working closely with the architect and the client that challenge was met and the end result is amazing.”

Apropos’ shortlisting comes just a month after the company’s high-tech £15 million-a-year polyester powder coating plant was officially opened.

The winners of the Design et al awards will be announced at an awards ceremony in September.
