CREATE YOUR DREAM KITCHEN WITH A LEAN-TO CONSERVATORY
Wanting to extend your kitchen? Not sure what style to go for? Looking for inspiration? Then, take a look at the following case study from Apropos...
Apropos was proud to be involved in a recent project; designing and erecting a lean-to conservatory, in order to bring some ‘industrial chic’ to a kitchen-cum-dining area in Newark (above).
A RIBA-registered architect was the owner of the property, and he wanted a lean-to conservatory to create his own piece of contemporary, minimalist architecture, for a new and stylish kitchen-cum-dining area to the side of the property – allowing both the original kitchen and dining room to be extended sideways and outwards.
Despite the property being a typical 1950s detached house, the lean-to conservatory blends seamlessly with the property by using bricks from the original gable wall of the property – which had been partly removed to allow access to the new lean-to conservatory – in the brickwork of the new lean-to conservatory. The result is a lean-to conservatory of sleek, minimal lines that complements the property rather than overpowers it.
"The end result is a magnificent lean-to conservatory that houses an amazing, minimalist, open-plan kitchen and dining area..."
The most impressive feature of the lean-to conservatory is its striking 26m² roof span, made a reality by Apropos’ highly tough, but deceptively light aluminium frame, which supports the roof’s glazing with ease.
The end result is a magnificent lean-to conservatory that houses an amazing, minimalist, open-plan kitchen and dining area that now spans both the lean-to conservatory and the original property. The bespoke design created a lean-to conservatory that is spacious and outward looking, using the garden as a magnificent backdrop for everyday family life.
The lean-to conservatory is also highly energy efficient, despite the high volume of glazing used in the structure. This is made possible using Apropos’ latest glazing technology, which adheres to the highest energy standards possible in order to retain warmth in the winter.
Additionally, electric roof vents allow air to flow freely through the lean-to conservatory in the summer, resulting in a light airy feel to the property.
