Apropos nominated for Design et al award 2010

Bespoke glass and aluminium structure specialist, Apropos Tectonic have been nominated for the Design et al International Design and Architecture Awards 2010, orangery category. The voting for the awards will take place in September with the award being announced at the awards dinner in October.

The project entered by Apropos for the award is an orangery designed, manufactured and installed by Apropos for a client in Staffordshire.

Apropos designed this orangery to create a television free seating area for the client, which blurred boundaries between the house and garden.

This project included two sets of folding sliding doors on each side with a set of patio doors at the front of the structure. This enabled the client to open out their orangery and let the air flow through as well as incorporating the living space into the garden.

The curved design at the front of the orangery keeps with the style of the 1950’s detached house.
Further development to the property included redesigning the patio area to make it more suitable for entertaining and enable them to incorporate the orangery with the garden.

The client was incredibly pleased with the outcome of the orangery and have said that it has now turned into the main hub of the house.

Gary Shaw, Regional Sales Manager for apropos commented, “Apropos take a lot of time designing structures which suit the clients needs and their properties. We aim to create bespoke solutions in aluminium and glass which are used by our clients on a daily basis.”
