Aluminium Conservatories - Thermal Efficiency at its best

Aluminium Conservatories - Thermal Efficiency at its best

When choosing a conservatory, one of the main things to consider is the building materials used. You have three possible frame materials to consider for you new conservatory. These are timber, uPVC and aluminium. Here at Apropos Conservatories, you will find probably the best bespoke aluminium conservatories in the world.

Modern architectural aluminium conservatories have improved a great deal from the original and common and cheap aluminium conservatories of the 1970s. Various quality improvements, such as the introduction of thermal barriers and the computerisation of manufacturing, have meant that it is now possible to purchase outstandingly high quality designs, which are significantly stronger and are durable enough to accept a glass (rather than polycarbonate) roof, at prices which are very competitive.

Architectural aluminium systems are now extensively used on mainland Europe and for most commercial glazing. There are various reasons why most people prefer aluminium conservatories.

Aluminium conservatories are light and easy to handle. You do not have to worry about transporting heavy wooden frames. Aluminium is also very abundant in nature and you do no have to worry about its effects on the environment. For example, most aluminium products can be commercially recycled at the end of their useful life without loss of metal quality or properties. Using aluminium is actually a green alternative.

Architectural aluminium allows slim, strong, rigid frames, will not warp, twist or rust and does not need reinforcing. The architectural aluminium alloy used for glazing systems has a strength approaching that of mild steel. The amount of expansion and contraction in architectural aluminium is very low giving greater structural stability.

Aluminium has a melting point of 660°C - an important security feature, as it cannot be melted with a blow torch by someone attempting to break in. It is common to find most home breakages occurring from an unsecured conservatory. With aluminium you have an extra layer of security.

Architectural aluminium is maintenance free. It does not attract dirt electro statically, and it doesn't need annual maintenance. Architectural aluminium buildings are finished with a polyester powder coating to BS6496, which is scratch and chip resistant, offering 750 RAL colours. These can be Matt, Satin or Gloss.

Perhaps the biggest advantages for using aluminium as your conservatory frame is its thermal quality. Architectural aluminium can incorporate any type of glazing, and in particular glass sealed units 24mm thick. In that case you are able to save on your energy bills especially during the winter. Aluminium is extremely energy efficient as compared to other building materials.

Apropos aluminium conservatories are recognised world wide for innovative design and we guarantee that you will save on your energy bills when you invest in our products.
