Conservatories construction to increase?
Conservatories may be a good idea for many after it was revealed house building costs are set to increase.
Steve Turner, spokesman for the Home Builders Federation, noted changes in part L of the building regulations means it is now more expensive for the construction industry to carry out projects.
This means people who had been considering building a new house may decide to scale down their plans and opt for a conservatory instead.
"Over time, we need to ... not let additional costs get in the way of that underlying principle of [the fact that] we need to build more," Mr Turner added.
However, those who have been put off by the added expenditure could settle for a conservatory.
As well as providing extra space for a family, it can act as a gateway to a backyard and gives an ideal vantage point for parents to watch their children playing outdoors.
