Kitchen 'a great place to have fun'
The kitchen can often be the hub of the home and is a great place to entertain guests, it has been claimed.
Those planning to build a glazed kitchen extension may see the benefits by turning the space into a fun cooking environment.
According to Joseph Joseph designer and co-director Richard Joseph, it can be a fantastic place to enjoy with family and friends.
"There are several things bringing more people into the kitchen. The whole celebrity chef thing has got a lot more people into cooking," he said.
The expert explained that few modern homes now have separate dining rooms, so householders are forced to entertain in the kitchen.
Mr Joseph added that the recession has seen more people cook at home rather than going out for meals.
As a result, there has been a "huge explosion in sales of kitchen products".
The recent Future Kitchen report by the Future Laboratory found that, by 2040, kitchens will have become Brits' personal trainer, dietician, psychologist and lifestyle coach by using new technology.
