Both sexes have home improvement responsibility
When it comes to home improvement, both sexes in a household are responsible for getting things done, it has been claimed.
While large projects such as kitchen extensions and garden studios may require expert help, DIY projects could and should be attempted by both men and women, according to the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC).
A recent survey from Bosch Power Tools showed that two-thirds (69 per cent) of women have carried out repairs and improvements in the home to save cash.
NHIC director Andrew Leech explained that the rise in the number of females willing to take on such responsibilities is unsurprising.
"The female part of the partnership feels obliged to contribute towards saving by doing certain jobs themselves," he said.
However, he added that the tasks are often shared equally between both halves of the relationship.
The expert added that DIY skills could help Brits boost the value of their property as long as they stick to the rules and "keep it as neutral as possible".
