Protect conservatories from burglars
Homeowners who invest thousands of pounds in a bespoke conservatory or garden studio should also make sure they are secured against burglary.
In order to install the most effective measures, Brits should look at their properties "through the eyes of a burglar", it has been claimed.
According to Friedland security expert Jonathan Lim, there is no need to spend a fortune on home security, as long as the "weak points" of the house have been covered.
"Is there a wheelie bin by the fence, so that a burglar could jump over the fence? Have you made sure that all of your windows and doors are shut when you leave home? It doesn't have to be expensive or difficult - just don't make it easy for burglars," he said.
Recent research from the firm showed that 59 per cent of UK properties do not have a home security alarm.
However, it is now "much easier" to install and alarm system thanks to new technology, which Mr Lim added has also become more reliable in the past few years.
