Lending down again, new figures show
Brits may be more inclined to make the best of what they have by investing in home improvement after new figures showed that mortgage lending is down again.
Mortgage advisory firm John Charcol noted that the latest Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) figures show a small drop in lending.
It could encourage homeowners to invest in a bespoke conservatory or other upgrade rather than go through the hassle of trying to secure finance for a larger property.
"Today's mortgage lending figures from the CML provide further confirmation that there has been no follow through to the significant improvement, from a very low base, in the number of housing transactions from the nadir in the first quarter of last year," explained John Charcol expert Ray Boulger.
He added that it is unlikely that this situation will change much over the coming months, if current indicators are to be believed.
Those looking for more living space could opt for an orangery, which provides a stylish alternative to the living room or dining room and is ideal for entertaining guests.
