Kitchen extension customers should 'consider new boiler'
British homeowners who are planning to build a kitchen extension may also wish to consider changing their boiler.
The National Home Improvement Show recommended replacing old units as a great way of cutting energy bills and reducing the carbon footprint of one's home.
Looking at other ways to make properties more efficient, the show's organisers suggested reusing dishwater and reducing water consumption.
Recent research from Sainsbury's Finance showed that approximately a fifth of personal loans are handed out to be used for home improvements.
The average value of such advances is £9,225 - which equates to a 12 per cent increase over the past 12 months.
National Home Improvement Show spokesman Michael Holmes explained that those improving their property should look to invest in a new boiler to make "significant savings".
"Prices start from around £400 for a condensing boiler and homeowners can choose from gas, electric or oil fired," he said.
Mr Holmes explained that even buying a jacket for the existing boiler can cut energy bills by ten per cent and reduce its temperature by one degree.
