Brits pay £20,000 more for ocean view
Bespoke conservatory owners with a view of the sea may be glad to know that their home could be worth over £20,000 more than inland properties.
A recent study by the Post Office discovered that Brits are willing to pay thousands of pounds extra for a house close to a beach.
The research looked at the things people are willing to pay more for and discovered that a seaside location trumped being close to family, a low crime rate and good transport links.
However, tomorrow (September 1st) is the most popular day of the year for moving house and the research showed that almost a quarter (24 per cent) of respondents rated living near loved ones as the most important thing when choosing a new property.
A similar number also value outside space such as a garden or roof terrace and are willing to pay an extra £10,043 to secure it.
"Our new Homebuyers Report shows that when it comes to location homeowners are certainly prepared to shell out for an ocean view," explained Post Office director of personal lending Marco Hughes.
Those looking to boost their home's view could also consider a glazed kitchen extension or pool house.
