Equity release 'may not be best option' for all conservatory buyers
While equity release may be ideal for financing a bespoke conservatory, it might not be the best option for all homeowners.
According to Ark Financial Planning co-founder Phil Perry, Brits should carefully consider their circumstances and speak to experts before deciding on how to raise the capital they require.
He noted that few homeowners would benefit from downsizing their property, which many choose to do when releasing equity, and that only those whose homes have gone up in value will see the positives.
"If you think about it, at the moment property prices are dropping, so why would somebody want to release money while properties are low, unless they are absolutely desperate for it," Mr Perry said.
Recent research from LV= found that 98 per cent of independent financial advisors believe there will be a surge in equity release, with 35 per cent placing it at the heart of their business interests.
