Homeowners worried about winter energy bills
British homeowners are becoming increasingly concerned about how cold it could get this winter.
According to a survey by the Home Heat Helpline, a large proportion are concerned that dipping temperatures could have a negative impact on their fuel bills.
More than two in five (44 per cent) homeowners are worried that energy costs could increase dramatically once the colder weather comes, the study showed.
"What we are also showing is that people aren't really acting on the fact that they are worried about the winter ahead and worried about energy bills," explained spokesperson Peter Jenkins.
Energy surveyor Julian Troake added that there are some useful steps that Brits can take to keep bills to a minimum, including insulating the house.
Other options include investing in a bespoke south-facing conservatory, which can be used to convert the sun's solar energy into heat for the home.
Technology is also available which allows property owners to pump the heat from their conservatory around their home.
