Green kitchens becoming more popular
Brits who plan to invest in a kitchen extension but want to keep it green are not alone, it has been claimed.
According to joinery and kitchen supplier Magnet, consumers are increasingly looking for ways to make their homes more eco friendly.
Marketing manager Alison Coleman noted that people now care more about the environment than at any other time in recent history and that this is "reflected in every purchase for the home".
She drew attention to the firm's range of ECO worktops, which are "partly made from recycled consumer waste such as mirrors, porcelain sinks, baths and tiles, and from industrial waste such as ash from power plants and stone scrap from quarries and workshops".
Meanwhile, recent research from Ikea showed that consumers are keen to choose kitchens that offer green features.
The study showed that Brits especially like the idea of growing their own food and concluded that future trends in home furnishings would have an environmental angle.
