Gap remains between green improvement knowledge and action
Despite a growing knowledge of the benefits of green home improvements, a small proportion of Brits actually act on their ideas, it has been claimed.
According to the National Home Improvement Show, the number of homeowners who install such technologies is far smaller than the number who know that they could gain from having them.
Spokesperson Michael Holmes explained that there has been a marked increase in awareness over the past few years, with many Brits now understanding that they can save money and reduce their environmental impact by investing wisely.
"If homeowners can understand that making a home more energy efficient is not cost prohibitive and returns can be made quite swiftly, then we may start moving towards a higher take-up of eco-home solutions," he added.
His comments follow a survey by ServiceMagic, which showed that 58 per cent of US homeowners considered green improvements when remodelling their property, but few actually carried through the idea to completion.
