Bringing the outdoors indoors a big trend for 2010
Bespoke conservatories and glazed kitchen extensions are known for their ability to bring the outdoors indoors - something that is a big trend this year, according to Stonehouse Tiles.
The firm noted that Brits can use tiles in the kitchen to give their food preparation area a more rustic, nature-inspired look.
Managing director Simon Errill explained that using natural materials in a property is very trendy at the moment, with wood stone and wool all popular textiles for interior decor.
The materials could complement a modern glazed extension, which offers views of the garden and outside world.
Mr Errill suggested opting for a natural stone-tiled floor if creating an earthy feel is important to you.
"If you're concerned with creating too minimal a look, then add a mosaic pattern into a work surface or on a floor to break up the colour and add a focal point," he added.
Meanwhile, Katrina Burrough recently wrote in the Daily Telegraph that paint and fabric manufacturers appear to be trying to challenge the UK's love of neutral colours by offering a number of "brazen" tones.
