New house price data released
The Communities and Local Government house price index data was released today (August 10th) and may be of interest to those considering a bespoke conservatory investment with a view to boosting the value of their home.
According to the statistics, which refer to June 2010 figures, the average cost of a home was 9.9 per cent higher year-on-year and remains unchanged from May 2010.
The mix-adjusted data showed that the typical sale price for a home during June was £210,775, which takes the quarterly rise to 0.8 per cent.
Wales saw the largest increase in average values, with house prices shooting up by 13.5 per cent.
England was not far behind with a 10.5 per cent increase, while Scotland enjoyed steady growth at 3.7 per cent.
However, Northern Irish property values fell by 7.7 per cent, which may encourage some residents to improve their property rather than sell straight away.
On average, first-time buyers paid 10.3 per cent more for their first property than they did in June 2009, while former owner occupiers shelled out an extra 9.8 per cent.
In other news, the National Association of Estate Agents recently reported a rise in the number of property sales.
