New scheme to allow easier solar power access
Brits considering investing in a pool house or bespoke conservatory may also be interested in accessing a new initiative from solar panel provider HomeSun.
The firm plans to give away £1 billion of solar panels over the next three years, allowing 100,000 homeowners free access to the technology.
The idea is that those making use of the scheme would get free electricity, with HomeSun selling any surplus to the government and keeping the profits.
Chief executive Daniel Green explained that it could save Brits from shelling out up to £15,000 for the equipment.
"We will take the long-term payback and we will stand by you for the 25-year period, but you are generating electricity beyond [that] because the solar panels remain on your roof," he said.
Mr Green added that the benefits from taking part in the scheme would be instantly apparent and that homeowners had "everything to gain" by getting involved.
The expert noted that he foresees such schemes as great ways of getting the UK to a stage where the majority of homes are not reliant on the government or utilities providers to generate power.
