Kitchen and conservatory extensions 'more likely after summer'
Britons are likely to take a more positive attitude to improving their homes with kitchen extensions or conservatories after the summer, it has been suggested.
Andrew Leech, director of the National Home Improvement Council, claimed that the property improvement sector is likely to have a "slow progression" in the coming months.
However, he predicted that this situation will change in the autumn, when Britons' attentions turn to preparing their homes for the long winter ahead.
"Once we get the summer over and once we get the government more settled in - if it is going to settle in - then people will be taking a more positive attitude towards their properties and thinking about new kitchens and new bathrooms," he said.
Mr Leech added that some homeowners will look to add cavity wall insulation and draft proofing in order to make their properties more energy efficient.
GfK Retail and Technology UK suggested this week that the durables market grew by 4.2 per cent on a month-on-month basis in June
