Brits increasingly using Mediterranean plants in their gardens
Brits planning to invest in a bespoke garden studio as part of a revamp of their green space may be interested in the recent comments from one expert.
Society of Garden Designers member Charlotte Rowe explained that an increasing number of British homeowners are choosing Mediterranean style plants.
One of the reasons for this is because of the country's drier weather, the garden design specialist claimed.
She suggested that the drought resistant properties offered by such plants mean that they are now useful in the UK and can be seen at home, as well as when on holiday.
"They are better at coping with some of these drier hot summers and you can't keep watering the garden so that is quite important," she said.
Meanwhile, recent Sadolin research found that homeowners now value the garden as one of the most important areas of their property.
Around one in five people consider their kitchen or bedroom less important than their outdoor space, while 12 per cent feel that the living room is less of a priority.
