Rural buyers forced out of countryside
Brits with property in a rural location could be doing well to hold onto them and improve them with a bespoke conservatory or other extension.
According to PricedOut.org.uk, many families face increasing difficulties in affording to buy a property in the countryside.
Press officer Katy John noted that young buyers in rural areas are crying out for the security of owning their own home.
"Yet all too often they find themselves in competition with second home owners and buy-to-let investors for local properties," she said.
Recent research from the National Housing Federation revealed that 65 per cent of people living in the countryside believe that young locals are being forced to move away by house prices.
Meanwhile, Knight Frank statistics show that prime country houses increased in value by 2.5 per cent in the second quarter of 2010, taking the total yearly rise to almost eight per cent.
The PricedOut.org.uk specialist called on the government to act by introducing "clear targets" for rural house building.
