Conservatory owners should think hard about insurance
Homeowners who have recently installed a new bespoke conservatory or other improvement may be interested in the latest advice from the British Insurance Brokers' Association (BIBA).
The organisation said that while it is sensible for people to shop around for the best insurance deal, taking the cheapest cover is not always the best idea.
BIBA technical and corporate affairs executive Graeme Trudgill explained that the decision should not just come down to price.
"It is actually about having the right cover and suitable protection for you," he said, adding that it is not always necessary to change insurer every year.
Mr Trudgill noted that while money can often be saved by switching, Brits should examine the policy carefully as there can be "very good" reasons for not switching providers.
However, according to recent moneysupermarket.com research, 29 per cent of homeowners automatically renew their cover every 12 months, potentially missing out on savings of around £132.
