Brits 'should be educated on green improvements'
Brits improving their homes should be encouraged to invest in environmentally-friendly alterations, it has been claimed.
According to It's Not Easy Being Green and AlertMe, the best way to do this is to educate homeowners.
Having the right information at their disposal will make property owners consider taking steps to minimise their impact on the environment, explained It's not Easy Being Green presenter Dick Strawbridge.
AlertMe chief executive Mary Turner added that people have busy lives and need things laid down in straightforward terms.
"We need very simple information you can actually action on - because with energy use, you cannot actually see the waste," she said.
New research from Marketiers shows that eight out of ten people feel energy companies do not provide good advice on saving money on power bills.
Almost half (48 per cent) think that the firms are almost completely ineffective at helping customers reduce their carbon footprint.
