Garden studios 'may make homes more sellable'
Brits who work from home may dream of having a space where they can escape the distractions of family life to get on with their job.
Garden studios can be used as offices, providing a secluded area in which to get things done, far enough from the house for some peace and quiet, but without needing a commute.
According to property development expert and Puddlestone managing director David Grievson, garden offices can sometimes make homes easier to sell.
He noted that there is a new trend for installing garden buildings, which "is indicative of the state of the economy and a lack of disposable income".
Mr Grievson added that it is vital to ensure that any new home improvement complies with planning laws.
The expert noted that not all structures will be approved and that some people who proceeded without permission have been forced to demolish their home improvements.
Examples of well-known people who have fallen foul of planning laws include Sir Cliff Richard and Boris Johnson.
