NAEA calls for housing pledges in Budget
Brits who are planning to invest in a bespoke conservatory, pool house or garden studio to make their home more appealing to buyers may be interested in the latest comments from the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA).
The body has set out a number of pledges it wants chancellor George Osborne to make in tomorrow's (June 22nd) Budget to help the housing market.
It wants a long-term review of stamp duty, assurances that lending criteria will remain sensible and the exploration of the introduction of fiscal incentives to attract more first-time buyers to the market.
Chief executive Peter Bolton King explained that most of the housing industry believes that stamp duty dampens the market.
"This government has already begun to tackle this issue by raising the threshold to £250,000," he said.
"Now is the time to go further and review the fundamental inequalities at the heart of this tax."
Mr Bolton King added that responsible lending criteria is also needed for a healthy market.
Meanwhile, confused.com recently told homeowners to ensure that they have remembered their gardens when insuring their homes - something new buyers should also bear in mind.
