Brits warned to protect gardens
Brits have been encouraged to protect their gardens after new research revealed that the average yard is worth hundreds of pounds.
A study by confused.com showed that the typical UK garden is worth £825, with lawnmowers, strimmers, sheds and greenhouses among the more expensive items.
Those who have invested in a garden studio may be even more keen to ensure their garden is covered by their home insurance.
Confused.com head of home insurance Darren Black explained that Brits should ensure that their outdoor space is protected.
"Many assume their garden's contents are covered under home insurance when this is not always the case. The cost of replacing these items if they were stolen or damaged could be significant," he said.
Mr Black added that gardens are more open to theft or damage during the warmer months and urged homeowners to ensure they have insured their property to its full value.
Meanwhile, the National Association of Estate Agents recently noted that chancellor George Osborne has promised to take a number of steps to help the housing market.
