Changes to finance plan for home improvement scheme
The government has made a pay as you save scheme available on a project designed to help Brits improve their homes.
According to Great British Refurb Campaign director Simon McWhirter the decision to allow the initiative's users to pay back the cash they owe through the savings they make in energy is great news.
"If we get this right, they get a more comfortable home which is cheaper to run, it is more environmentally sensitive and they don't pay any dough for it," he said.
The Great British Refurb Campaign is aimed at allowing homeowners to install green home improvements that will help cut their energy expenditure.
Mr McWhirter believes that it is an "absolutely vital" part of updating the country's ageing housing.
He called for new measures to make energy refurbishment "easy, affordable and attractive", noting that it can often be difficult to make positive changes to a home.
Examples of potential property improvements include a bespoke lean-to conservatory or pool house.
