Home improvements set to increase
The number of Brits having bespoke home improvements installed this year could be set to increase, if the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) is to be believed.
According to the organisation, there are likely to be a number of jobs created in the retrofitting sector of the construction industry in the coming months.
This is in spite of government spending cuts in other parts of the market and is down to the new focus on environmental measures.
Recent figures from the Markit/CIPS Purchasing Managers' Index show that activity in the construction industry has risen for three consecutive months, taking it to its highest level since September 2007.
Meanwhile, employment opportunities are at their best for more than a year, the statistics show.
"The new government is committed to actually encouraging a green [agenda] and making our existing homes more energy efficient," explained FMB director of external affairs Brian Berry.
He added that many of the new jobs will be created in the energy efficiency and retrofitting market.
