Women getting more involved in home improvement
Recent research has shown that females are becoming more involved in home improvement.
The study by thecaliforniacompany.co.uk showed that nine out of ten women own a power tool, with 67 per cent claiming that they do DIY.
Commenting, home improvement expert Francesca Gamble said that females are increasingly taking on new responsibility and picking up new skills.
She suggested that women are becoming more active in DIY tasks, regardless of whether they live with a partner, friends or on their own.
"I think women will give it a go just as much as a man would at any job that is needed to be done," Ms Gamble explained.
She added that females are unlikely to discriminate over which jobs they try their hand at and noted that it is unlikely that they would not take on a task when a man would.
While some projects can be carried out by the homeowner themselves, those planning a larger improvement, such as a lean-to conservatory, should leave it to the professionals.
