Attracting birds to the garden
Homeowners who wish to use their bespoke lean-to conservatory to watch the wildlife in their garden may be interested in recent advice from Little Terra.
The online resource explained that numbers of common garden birds like the sparrow and song thrush are in decline and that Brits should do all they can to help them.
"Feeding the birds in your garden is a wonderful way to introduce children to wildlife and will reward them with the opportunity to watch and observe the amazing behaviour of a wide variety of birds and even sometimes the chance to see something rare and exciting," explained spokeswoman Carolyn Budding.
Homeowners can build their own bird feeding extension with just a few cheap items, including an empty drinks bottle with cap, a drawing pin, some string and two willow sticks measuring between 20 and 30cm long.
The pin should be used to poke holes in the bottle, which should be widened with scissors before the sticks are inserted all the way through to make perches.
A 7.5mm hole should be cut around 4cm above each perch to allow the birds to feed, while two punctures should be made next to the neck to allow the string to be inserted to make the hanger.
When this has been done, the bottle can be filled with seeds and the cap replaced. It is now ready to hang outside to help the local birdlife.
Meanwhile, the Chelsea Flower Show is currently taking place in London and could be a great place to pick up gardening tips.
