Welsh to get home improvement assistance
Homeowners in Wales who wish to add new green home improvements to their property have been given a boost.
The Welsh Assembly Government has launched a £30 million home improvement scheme that is designed to increase the nation's energy efficiency.
It will target at least 21 communities, helping to kit out around 6,000 houses by March next year, with local renewable energy businesses and tradesmen being used wherever possible.
Organisers hope that the scheme will not only cut the country's carbon footprint, but also create new jobs at a time when they are much needed.
Building Research Establishment Wales director Nick Tune explained that the initiative is "fantastic news" not just for the country, but for families and businesses.
"This investment by the Welsh Assembly Government means that not only will families have significantly reduced energy bills, but new jobs will be created and CO2 will be reduced - it's a win-win-win," he said.
