Home improvement scheme a success
A recent green home improvement initiative was a big success, according to new figures from the Energy Saving Trust.
According to the statistics, the boiler scrappage scheme was well received by UK consumers, with more than 125,000 vouchers claimed.
The project allowed homeowners to get £400 off the price of a new boiler and almost half of those who took part have already received the cash.
Data from the firm shows that 58,177 people have been paid, with the remainder currently going through the process of completing the transaction.
National Home Improvement Council director Andrew Leech explained that the initiative was "really successful", adding that it is "a great shame that it has come to an end" as he believes it could have continued for longer.
Mr Leech said that companies, as well as homeowners and the environment, had benefited from the programme.
Other potential home improvements include bespoke conservatories, which can now be enhanced with heat transfer technology to pump solar energy around the home.
