Redecorating 'a cost-effective improvement'
Redecorating your home can be a cost-effective way of personalising the property, it has been suggested.
Not everyone can afford to buy their dream bespoke conservatory or pool house and people often have to make do with smaller home improvements such as a new paint scheme or DIY project.
According to Build It and Home Improvement magazine, picking up a paintbrush or buying new wallpaper is a great way to reinvigorate the abode.
"Decorating is a way to make your mark and improve your home at a very affordable cost, with very apparent results," explained editor Duncan Hayes.
He added that the general public are no longer as good at DIY as their predecessors 20 years ago, but that having such skills can be useful.
The expert noted that the financial downturn has encouraged a lot of people to take action and improve their own home through DIY, rather than paying experts.
New Tesco figures show that 60 per cent of females now shop for DIY products in its stores, while the proportion was just 20 per cent a decade ago.
