Add lavender to the garden
Those who have invested in a bespoke conservatory and now wish to improve the garden that surrounds it could consider adding lavender.
The scented herb is the Horticultural Trades Association's (HTA) plant of the month for May and is a great addition to any green space, it has been claimed.
Easy to grow and great either on its own or with other species such as roses, lavender is good for attracting bees to the garden and looks and smells nice.
HTA spokesperson David Gilchrist was full of praise for the plant, explaining that there are different colours available that allow gardeners to experiment.
"Lavender plants make an excellent edge to a rose border or herb or vegetable garden," he said, adding that it can "soften the lines of hard landscaping such as terraces or patios".
The HTA plant of the month campaign is designed to highlight species that are widely available and look good at particular times of the year.
Meanwhile, The Handy Squad recently gave conservatory owners tips on how to improve their view by cleaning up the garden.
