Translucent worktops 'the future of kitchens'
Homeowners investing in a stylish new bespoke glazed kitchen extension may be interested in a new product said to be the future of cooking spaces.
The HI-MACS worktop is made by Lucent from translucent materials and was presented at a recent cocktail reception in the Schmidt concession showroom in the French town of Bourgoin Jallieu.
The event saw a chef prepare a gourmet meal in front of interested onlookers and HI-MACS Europe marketing manager Anne Bourcier predicted that translucent materials will play a big part in the future of kitchens.
"There appears to be a growing demand for this type of product which is flexible (it may also be lit), fashionable, hygienic and functional," she said.
Because it is non-porous, the material is very hygienic and is even used in hospitals. It is also stain resistant, making it ideal for use in the kitchen.
Meanwhile, The Handy Squad recently released a number of hints for cleaning up the garden - tips that could be useful for those wishing to improve the view from their glazed kitchen extension.
