Housing industry to remain flat
Brits contemplating whether to move home or invest in a home improvement, such as a bespoke conservatory, may be interested in the latest Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) statement.
The organisation suggested that there is likely to be no significant movement in the housing market for the time being.
Responding to recent research by Hometrack, which showed that house prices rose by 0.2 per cent this month, a CML spokesperson explained that people are likely to wait until after the election before making a decision on selling.
She added that the economy remains a decisive factor and that Brits may put off moving until they are more sure of where the country's finances are going.
"We are not expecting too much movement on transactions or prices, et cetera. There'll be a few ups and downs as we go along which is to be expected but at the moment there are very, very low levels of transactions," the representative said.
Things are likely to be much flatter for the time being, although there may be small peaks and troughs before there is any real movement, she added.
