Homeowners should maintain boilers
Brits investing in a new glazed kitchen extension and energy efficient boiler may be interested in the latest comments from the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE).
The organisation suggested that such boilers need annual maintenance to allow users to see the best financial benefits.
CIPHE chief executive Blane Judd explained that Brits should aim to keep their boiler in good condition and that those who do could cut up to £190 off their annual fuel bills.
"People have to realise that you have got to keep your central heating system in tiptop condition to be sure that you are going to be getting that return year on year," he said.
Mr Judd added that it is important to remember that, like most things, boilers will deteriorate over time.
The expert said that the new government scrappage scheme is likely to prove popular, but that some Brits who would have renewed their boiler anyway may now delay in order to take advantage.
The initiative allows homeowners in Scotland to receive a grant to replace old boilers with energy efficient ones.
