Liverpool residents could live in city's greenest home
Residents in Liverpool are being asked to apply to live in what is set to be the city's greenest house.
The 130-year-old double-fronted residence will feature a conservatory that will heat the home, as well as a number of other eco-friendly installations.
More than 1,000 households were asked to apply, but only one reply was forthcoming, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The government is ploughing £107,000 into the project, with housing association Plus Dane Group also contributing £30,000.
A couple with two children would be the ideal group for the three-bedroom home, which also features PassivHaus super insulation, triple-glazed windows and a heat pump.
"[The residents] will have to consider energy efficiency because it is part of what is being studied and how the environment effects our decisions," project manager Martin Gladwin told the newspaper.
In other news, the Rutherglen Reformer has warned local residents about a cowboy conservatory builder operating in the area who owes numerous people thousands of pounds.
