Home improvers 'should think about energy efficiency'
Brits investing in a bespoke lean-to conservatory may be interested in the latest comments from the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC).
The body suggested that those improving their property should seek to improve the energy efficiency of the home at the same time.
Recent statistics released by Shelter and the Royal Institute of British Architects showed that the majority of homeowners dream of improving their abode, although just 12 per cent wish to increase its energy efficiency.
NHIC director Andrew Leech explained that while new kitchen extensions and other improvements are "sensible", Brits should think about the environmental impact of their efforts.
"You can get baths now which will give you a very good bathing experience, but don't use as much water and that is the sort of thing that people should be considering," he said.
The expert added that such a high number of Brits wishing to improve their property is a "big boost" for the industry.
