Conservatory divides neighbours
The importance of consulting neighbours over plans for a bespoke lean-to conservatory or other home improvement has been highlighted in a recent article in a national newspaper.
According to the Guardian, residents in the Welsh suburb of Rhwbina are at loggerheads over plans for a glazed extension.
David Hobbs had hoped to build the white lean-to conservatory on the back of his home in Clos Y Bryn, Cardiff, but it has split opinions of neighbours.
Two petitions were submitted to local planning officials - one for and one against - before the idea was rejected.
It is the second time the homeowner has been refused consent in two years, with officers suggesting that the conservatory would jeopardise the privacy of other residents.
One neighbour, who suffers from MS, had complained that the extension would block out sunlight to her garden and officials agreed that it would "adversely affect" her enjoyment of her own property.
Meanwhile, a pensioners' club in Sunderland has gained funding for a new conservatory to help it accommodate new members, the Sunderland Echo reported.
