Home improvement popularity rising
An increasing number of Brits are electing to upgrade their homes, it has been claimed.
In the aftermath of the recession, homeowners are choosing to install bespoke conservatories and other home improvements rather than move house, according to Media 10, the firm behind the Ideal Home Show.
Group marketing manager Rob Nathan explained that the event's popularity this year reflected a rise in interest in property upgrades.
"People are tending to do more with their homes rather than move, which people can now appreciate with so many television programmes and magazines about doing up your home," he said.
A recent Daily Telegraph interview with Location Location Location's Phil Spencer suggested that it makes sense for Brits to improve, rather than move.
The expert's new book Adding Value To Your Home suggests that homeowners should look to enhance their property, making it a nice place to live, rather than selling up and moving on.
