Decorating advice from Dulux
Brits who are deciding how to decorate their new glazed extension may be interested in the latest comments from a paint manufacturer.
Dulux brand manager David Shepherd recently suggested that there is currently a trend for complimenting plain shades of paint with areas of colourful tones.
He noted that the firm is selling a lot whites and creams, with homeowners favouring neutral colours when redecorating.
The expert said that Brits should aim for some "dynamism and personality" in addition to such pale tones.
Speaking at the recent Gadget Show Live 2010 in Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre, Mr Shepherd also made a number of suggestions for funky colours, including raspberry diva and muddy puddle.
"When consumers use these bright colours they are tending to do so in a gesture of making a statement, like painting a living room chimney breast," he explained.
The Dulux representative added that these feature colours are usually "really rich" and stand out against the neutral shades used in the rest of the room.
Meanwhile, Tom Dixon recently told the Daily Telegraph that customers are tending to opt for more extreme contrasts than in the past.
