The firm found that a quarter of homebuyers are ignorant to the extra fees involved with buying a property in the UK.
According to the statistics, nine per cent of people believe that they will have to pay an extra £1,000 on top of the house price.
Meanwhile, four per cent were not aware that they would have to pay any fees at all, which could suggest that some will be in for a nasty shock.
Mouseprice.com director Selwyn Lim explained that many Brits do not take extra charges into account when budgeting, noting that solicitor fees, surveys and stamp duty can all mount up.
The government recently doubled the stamp duty threshold for first-time buyers, but Mr Lim suggested that the levy represents "probably the biggest cost of purchasing a home".
