Conservatories pay dividends in Nailsea show
Conservatory owners in Somerset have told a local newspaper how they used their glazed structures to help them prepare for a recent event.
The Mercury revealed how Nailsea residents taking part in the annual Easter Saturday Show at a local school had been panicking that their flowers would not be ready in time.
However, a number of participants made good use of their indoor glazed spaces to speed up growth that had been threatened by one of the coldest winters ever to hit the UK.
More than 300 visitors attended the event, run by the Nailsea & District Horticultural Society, to see 127 exhibitors show off their daffodils.
Some of the growers explained how they had turned their conservatories into temporary floral hot houses to boost their chances of success.
Winner Peter Sallnow told the newspaper that he was "amazed" to have taken first place, explaining how he left his family with nowhere to sit after moving his flowers into the conservatory.
Meanwhile, a recent Daily Mail article noted that arguments between couples are not uncommon when improving the home, suggesting that it is often a matter of compromising.
