Home improvers 'should not fear Hips'
Brits investing in a bespoke conservatory, pool house or other glazed extension should bear in mind that details of the improvement will have to be included in a home information pack (Hips) should they eventually sell the house.
The documents caused controversy when they were introduced, with some speculating that they could put some people off selling.
However, this has not transpired, according to Housingexpert.net, which claimed that Hips have not negatively affected the number of properties coming onto the market.
Little House Company director Nick Marr agreed with this consensus, suggesting that while the introduction led to "confusion" and "hesitation" initially, sellers have now gotten to grips with the requirement.
"Most professionals in the housing industry accept that Hips have their place in speeding up the buying and selling process," he said.
Mr Marr explained that the Conservative Party's pledge to scrap Hips if it comes into power could do more harm than good by causing uncertainty in the market.
