MP sells home with conservatory
The addition of a conservatory may have helped a Luton MP sell her house just one month before her tenure comes to an end.
Margaret Moran was one of the parliamentary figures alleged by the Daily Telegraph to have manipulated the system to upgrade both her homes using government expenses.
According to Luton Today, the MP switched her second home status in order to enable her to upgrade both her family home in Luton and her London flat in turn.
Ms Moran, who is currently on sick leave, managed to sell her constituency property for £260,000.
Aside from the 19-ft conservatory, the house features a well kept interior with three bedrooms, two reception rooms and a "good sized rear garden".
According to the Daily Telegraph, Ms Moran spent £2,250 of taxpayer money improving the garden, £1,823 on the bathroom and £1,207 on wardrobes and miscellaneous DIY projects.
Meanwhile, Firstrung has suggested that the raising of the stamp duty threshold to £250,000 will do little to help first-time buyers.
