How a bespoke conservatory can make you happy
A national newspaper has speculated that buying a bespoke conservatory could make you happy.
The Independent pointed to a study by the University of Warwick department of psychology, which found that people are more content if their property is better than that of their neighbours and peers.
Dr Chris Boyce showed that money can make people happy so long as they appear to be better off than those in their social circles.
The newspaper suggested that Brits considering investing in a bespoke conservatory, or any other major purchase, have a look at what their neighbours have and attempt to outdo them in order to gain a sense of satisfaction.
It pointed to the popular TV show Mad Men, in which character Pete Campbell's joy at a promotion was short lived when he discovered that a colleague had achieved the same.
This, it explained, sums up how people do not just want success or possessions; they want them to be unique and not shared with others.
Such an interpretation of human psychology could present an argument for investing slightly more in a bespoke conservatory, rather than one that is ready-made and not one of a kind.
Meanwhile, internet architecture resource bdonline.co.uk has featured an article on how a team managed to sustainably cool two giant glazed structures in Singapore.
