Hospice refused conservatory consent
The importance of considering neighbours' opinions when applying for permission to build a bespoke conservatory has been underlined by the plight of a Buxton hospice.
Blythe House Hospice in Chapel-en-le-Frith has been denied consent for a large glazed extension after councillors agreed with local residents that it would be "overbearing".
According to the Buxton Advertiser, the local authority was concerned by the impact the development would have on neighbours and opted to veto the plans.
The newspaper revealed that one nearby resident voiced her concerns about the structure cutting off sunlight to the front of her home.
Mrs Johnson added that builders would also be able to see in her kitchen window and glass doors during work.
"This feeling of enclosure causes me distress. My privacy and security will be compromised," she said.
Meanwhile, an Ayrshire councilman has admitted that the local authority is to blame for a local public conservatory falling into disrepair.
According to the Ayrshire Post, Bill Grant is hoping that the council can make amends by reopening the structure at Belleisle.
