Home improvers becoming more discerning
Brits improving their cooking space are becoming more discerning, it has been claimed.
Whether it is building a kitchen extension or simply kitting the room out with new appliances, homeowners are now putting more thought into the process.
According to Britannia Living, there is a common desire to put a personal touch on kitchens.
Brand manager Robert Cassidy explained that coloured cookers have risen in popularity recently, with red, white and cream all being desirable colours.
"People are getting colour-savvy about the way they want things to look, but also about the functionality behind it as well," he said.
The expert added that the recession has impacted the decision-making processes behind home improvements, with Brits taking more time to decide on a purchase.
Mr Cassidy noted that people are less likely to impulse buy than they were a few years ago.
Recent figures from the Confederation of British Industry seem to back up his claims, with a sharp drop in DIY sales during March.
